The  lack of producers with creativity and the greed for money among film  stars seems to be the biggest problem for Mollywood, according to the  senior actor Sreenivasan. He was speaking at a press conference  associated with the preview of his latest movie 'Aatmakatha', at Kochi.
The actor observed that Mollywood is reigned by stars who hoped of a  welcome hit in the ninth film with a better director, even after their  eight films have bombed in a row at the box office. Sreeni also pointed  out that a section of producers is hell bent on chasing stars with  commercial value, as their satellite rights of star movies are sold at  huge amounts. He also remembered about the prowess of such old time  producers like M O Joseph, T E Vasudevan and Hari Pothen, who succeeded  in taking Malayalam movies from the regularly driven path of commercial  potboilers.
Sreeni observed that it is not useful to compete with Tamil and Telugu  masala movies which are made with bigger budgets. “Mollywood films had  earned repute for its aesthetic values rather than their big budgets and  masala
